Li Fanrong was appointed as Director of Syngenta Group in June 2021 and has served as our Chairman of the Board since September 2022. He also serves as the Chairman of Syngenta AG. 

He has been serving as the Chairman of Sinochem Holdings since August 2022. Mr. Li has extensive work experience in the field of corporate management and in petroleum and petrochemical industries. Prior to his current post, Li Fanrong served as Vice President of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), CEO & President of CNOOC Ltd.(listed on the Hong Kong and Shanghai Stock Exchange), and Chairman of Nexen Energy ULC; Deputy Director General of the National Energy Administration (China); Board Director and Group President of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) as well as Vice Chairman of PetroChina.

Li Fanrong graduated from the Jianghan Petroleum Institute (currently known as Yangtze University) and obtained his bachelor’s degree in oil production engineering and his master’s degree in business administration from Cardiff University.
