Hengde Qin was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Syngenta Group in August 2026. Prior to that, he served as Chief Operating Officer, having been appointed to the role in March 2026, and in May 2026 he assumed additional responsibilities as Head of Seeds. Earlier, he served as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Human Resources Officer. Previously, he was President of Syngenta Group China before  relocating to the company’s headquarters in Basel, Switzerland in 2023.

Before joining Syngenta Group, Hengde held the positions of Deputy Chief Accountant of Hubei Hongqi Cable Co. Ltd., CFO of Guotou Yuanyi Industrial Co. Ltd., and Deputy GM of the Investment Management department of Delong International Strategic Investment Co. Ltd.

Hengde joined Sinochem International in July 2004 as Head of the Business Development Department, and was later promoted to CFO, then Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer. From 2016 to 2020, he served as President of Sinochem Agriculture Business while concurrently holding the positions of Executive Director and CEO of Sinofert Holding Limited and Executive Director of China National Seeds Group, as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Win-all Hi-tech Seed Co. Ltd., and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical Co. Ltd.

Hengde graduated from the East China Engineering Institute of Technology, majoring in economy and management, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Engineering. He also holds a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and an MBA from the China Europe International Business School.
