Prior to being appointed as the Board Secretary and Deputy General Counsel of Syngenta Group, Yao Shuo served as the Chairman of the Board of Supervisors of Syngenta Group from June 2021 to February 2024.  

Before joining Syngenta Group, YAO held the position of Deputy General Counsel of Sinochem Holdings. He joined Sinochem Group in 2001 and was later promoted as Assistant General Manager of the Legal Department. In 2017 he joined CCB Trust, a leading wealth management company in China, as Executive Director and then Managing Director of the Legal & Compliance Department. In 2019 he rejoined Sinochem Group as Deputy General Counsel prior to his appointment to the same position of Sinochem Holdings in 2021.

YAO holds a dual Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Economics from Peking University, and a Master of Law Degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
