Meet our Group Ambassador Aleksander Aamodt Kilde

The two-time Olympic medalist combines his passion and dedication for the sport with his commitment to raising awareness about the challenges posed by climate change and food security, and how agriculture can be part of the solution.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde loves to compete in adverse conditions. In addition to becoming a two-time Olympic medalist at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games, Aleksander has won several impressive titles, including the Super G and Downhill World Cup Titles 2021/2022 and the Downhill World Cup Title for 2022/2023.

Aleksander, Syngenta Group Ambassador since 2020, has experienced the impact of climate change firsthand. Over the last two decades as a professional skier, he has seen snow thinning on mountain slopes and ice glaciers melting on the mountains that have been his second home. Extreme weather events are now more frequent and the sport he loves is under threat. That’s why Aleksander and many other winter sports athletes are urging the International Ski Federation to implement more measures to fight against climate change and to make the sport climate neutral as soon as possible.

Changing climate is also the reason why global food production and hunger rates are expected to be worse in the years ahead. By joining forces with Syngenta Group, Aleksander is raising awareness about the impact of climate change and the importance of conserving resources and protecting our environment.

Growing up in the Norwegian countryside, Aleksander has been fascinated with agriculture from a young age and inspired by the relentless efforts of farmers and their close connection with their environment. He is also passionate about sustainably grown healthy and nutritious food that helps people stay fit. As Syngenta Group Ambassador, he has delved deeper into solutions that will meet the challenges of the agricultural industry and feed a growing population.

Through his Digging Deeper series, Aleksander has helped people understand the future of agriculture and the potential solutions to ensure global food security. Aleksander talked with experts such as Daniel Vennard, Chief Sustainability Officer, Syngenta Group, about how innovation in agriculture is enabling farmers to make better use of available resources, including the adoption of digital tools to make regenerative agriculture more scalable.

Aleksander also met with Christine Gould, CEO and founder of non-profit organization Thought For Food®, to discuss the advancements in agricultural technology and how young people can build on this with their digital savviness and comfort with latest technologies.

Aleksander shares the commitment of Syngenta Group’s 59,000 employees for a greener, healthier and safer planet, and believes that sport has a huge role to play in informing, inspiring and supporting climate action. As our Group Ambassador, Aleksander has shown that alpine skiers are not just champions on the slopes, but also can be champions for the planet.
